How Yoggies migrated to Shopify without losing a single data point

Yoggies is a family-owned Czech brand that has made fresh cooked food, cold-pressed kibble with probiotics, BARF food and supplements for dogs and cats since 2015. It sells through its own e-shop and retail stores, at trade shows, through a B2B wholesale channel, and through around 230 partner stores.

After seven to eight years on a platform built and maintained by a single developer, Yoggies moved to Shopify. The migration ran alongside a new ERP system and a warehouse relocation, and the business came through it with its loyalty programme, and the customer data behind it, fully intact.

  • Approximately 500,000 historical orders migrated with no data loss, so every customer’s order history and accumulated spend carried over intact.
  • Returning customers account for around 80% of total company revenue.
  • More than 136,000 customers have bought from Yoggies to date, and over half have purchased more than once.

The challenge: a growing business outrunning a one-person platform

For most of its history, Yoggies ran its e-shop on a platform built and maintained by a single independent developer. He was capable, and the setup worked well while the business was small. But as Yoggies grew, his capacity became the limit on what the business could do. Two concerns soon followed: vendor lock-in, and the risk of relying entirely on one person.

Even simple marketing work had become a development project. “We were practically unable to build any landing pages, because everything came down to hardcore programming,” said Jiří Švihálek, Marketing Director at Yoggies.

Moving carried risks of its own. Yoggies’ loyalty programme, and the years of order history behind it, made up a large share of its revenue. Its most loyal customers had years of purchases riding on a smooth switch.

“We were very worried about data. About losing data, and about losing customer data. If a customer who had already spent, say, 200,000 CZK with us suddenly found themselves back at zero, they would most likely leave, because we would have made them furious,” Švihálek explained.

The solution: a competitive process and a managed rebuild

Yoggies came to Shopify mainly on a recommendation from its design agency. Yoggies also looked at Shoptet Premium, but ruled it out for its limited support for international expansion.

Choosing an implementation partner followed a more formal process. Yoggies started with around 10 candidates, narrowed the field to three, and asked each for a full proposal and analysis. A final consultation with the founder of Sounds Good Agency settled it, on the strength of the team’s expertise.

The rebuild itself ran alongside a new Helios ERP system and a move into new warehouses, so it was never a simple like-for-like switch. Once the ERP replacement was under way, requirements kept surfacing that nobody had anticipated at the start. The project roughly doubled in size, and Sounds Good Agency responded by adding people and hours. Customer and product data migrated cleanly. Connecting Shopify to third-party systems took the most work, since the old and new systems had little common ground to build on.

Whatever we come up with, we never get told that it cannot be done.

Yoggies’ biggest fear going into the project was losing customer and loyalty data, but it never happened. “Paradoxically,” Švihálek recalled, “that turned out to be one of the most straightforward and simplest parts, so we need not have worried about it at all.”

The result: faster testing and a smarter loyalty programme

With Shopify, the team no longer has to wait for a developer to free up. They can update the storefront themselves, and that has changed how they work day to day.

"The biggest impact we see is the ability to make changes in Shopify in real time. That means we can test much faster and roll out UX changes much faster, which in today’s world, where everything is changing at a rocket pace, is a huge advantage," said Švihálek.

The loyalty programme has moved from hard discounts to a points system, giving Yoggies more ways to work with its most valuable customers, and returning customers still account for around 80% of total company revenue, even after a deliberate push into new-customer acquisition since November 2025 brought that share down slightly. Shopify POS, still in trial, has let the team take a till to trade fairs and exhibitions with little setup, and put selling power directly in the hands of sales reps visiting B2B customers.

We used to have tills only through Helios, which was terribly rigid. Now we can take a till to an event, a trade fair or an exhibition without much setup at all. We can even hand a till to a sales rep visiting a B2B customer, and they can sell something on the spot. Just with a tablet. Or even with a phone.

According to Sounds Good Agency, approximately 500,000 historical orders were migrated with no data loss, preserving the full purchase history that now powers the new points programme.

For Švihálek, the biggest reassurance is less about any one feature than about pace.

We know that in two years we will not have to change platforms because ours has gone stale.
